Keep Running Feeling Good

There’s no getting away from it, running or jogging can be a solitary affair and that can be hard for some people who prefer hanging out down the pub. Solitary might be ok once you’re fit enough to do ten miles without breaking into a sweat, but what about when you’re new to it and the slightest thing is a good enough reason to stay at home with a six pack of beer? When just the sight of someone with muscled legs conditioned from running makes you feel physically sick? Here are some ways to keep running / jogging fresh:
1) Do a new route: there’s no need to copy all the other joggers and just do the same boring run around the block. Find a nature reserve or drive to a nearby lake. A new place is likely to be more interesting on the eye, which means that at least while you are suffering you’ll have a Greater outdoors to take in.
2) Listen to some new music. New music is great because it’s a surprise, and it cheers you up. Or even better listen to some music from your youth. It’ll re-ignite old memories and…well…remind you of being slightly fitter, which could have a positive effect.
3) Run with a partner. Make sure it’s someone who’s at the same level as you are, because it won’t be any fun if you get completely shown up.
4) Change your running shoes if they are knackered. It’s easy to get attached to your running shoes, but remember that they won’t do you any favours if they are knackered and worn down. All that’ll happen is you will follow suit.
