The Chicago Marathon
The America Chicago Marathon is one event which generates as much thrill and expectation as one experiences when taking a ski holiday. The weather and the general atmosphere are usually clear with a slight chill, like one experiences when standing atop the slope ready to start the ski down. During the race the thrill is as capturing as one experiences when speeding down the slope with the wind hitting one’s face and the end as festive as one notice’s at the end of any great marathon run. Many of the participants also choose to wear gore running wear.
The Americans who take part in this marathon event have but different goals to achieve rather than just setting records. This marathon is the qualifying test of the American athletes for the 2012 Olympics. Each participant is more intent on lowering or bettering their own previous or running record.
There would be the trio of James Carney, Fasil Bizuneh, and Nick Arciniaga who would be seen leading the American pack and trying to better their 2:10 finish result. They have stated their plans of how to be leading and making sure that their results are better than before. There would be the sub 2:10 individual also in the form of Arciniaga who would be making the least improvement being the best of the three as it is. He had finished at the eight position at the run conducted in New York last year with a timing of 1:58. The Californian has found the temperature and altitude to be of good stead and benefiting him and his athletic form.
There would also be a monetary gain for these athletes as the officials have prize money announced for the top US athletes who finish the race in the first 15 places. The prize money that has been announced is $2,500, in addition, those who do so under 2:19 and 2:21 would also get a bonus of $1,000.
